The Youth Reentry & Empowerment Initiative provides free educational support, reentry preparation, resource navigation, and practical guidance to young people who are currently involved with the juvenile or criminal justice system and those preparing to return to their communities.
Our work begins before release. When permitted, we work directly with youth in correctional facilities to help them begin preparing for their return home and their next chapter
Our program focuses on practical areas that can help young people prepare for a successful transition, including:
Reentry Preparation & Planning
Life Skills & Personal Development
Education, GED & Training Resources
Employment Readiness & Career Exploration
Housing & Community Resource Navigation
Identification & Important Documents
Transportation & Community Resources
Goal Setting & Future Planning
Professional & Community Connections
Self-Advocacy & Decision-Making Skills
Family Resource Information
Connections to Appropriate Community Services
Administrative & Document Preparation Support
Letters, Personal Statements & Written Correspondence
Organization of Important Records and Information
Assistance Preparing Factual Timelines, Summaries & Supporting Information
Sometimes the transition home involves more than finding resources—it also involves paperwork, written communication, and keeping important information organized.
When appropriate, we can assist participants with preparing and organizing non-legal documents and written materials, such as:
Personal and professional letters
Request letters and correspondence
Personal statements
Reentry-related written statements
Resumes and employment-related documents
Resource and referral paperwork
Document organization
Factual timelines and summaries
Lists of questions or information to discuss with an attorney or service provider
Other administrative documents related to reentry and community resource navigation
Our role is to help young people organize their information, communicate their needs clearly, and prepare practical documents that may assist them in navigating their transition.
We do not provide legal advice, legal representation, or legal services. When a matter requires legal assistance, we help connect individuals with an appropriate attorney or qualified legal service provider.
When facility access and authorization are available, we work with young people inside correctional facilities to begin preparing for their transition home.
Our goal is to help youth identify their needs, understand available options, develop realistic goals, and begin creating a plan they can continue working on after release.
Reentry does not end when a young person walks through the facility doors.
We provide continued support and resource navigation as young people transition back into their communities.
We help participants navigate practical challenges that may come with returning home, including finding resources, exploring education and employment opportunities, addressing identification and documentation needs, preparing appropriate written correspondence, organizing important paperwork, and identifying appropriate community services.
Our goal is to provide consistent, practical support from preparation through transition and into the community, while helping each young person develop the confidence and skills to advocate for themselves and move toward their goals.
There is no cost to participating youth or their families.
This initiative is offered as a free community-based service through Brooks Administrative Services. Services are provided based on program availability, appropriate referrals, facility access, and the needs of each participant.
We believe young people deserve an opportunity to prepare for their future, understand their options, and have someone willing to help them navigate the road ahead.
Our approach is centered on respect, accountability, preparation, education, and empowerment.
We provide educational support, resource information, navigation, and practical guidance. We do not provide legal representation, mental-health treatment, medical care, or other licensed professional services.
Prepare. Connect. Empower. Move Forward.
We want every young person to understand that their current circumstances do not have to define their future.
A new chapter can begin with preparation, support, and an opportunity to move forward. Take the first step toward your future.
